Writing a Book - Overcoming Drudgery
I don’t know, you just write and write some more.
(this *direct quote* by your’s truly, has also been your insightful writing-related thought of the day - hope you’ve treasured it thoroughly)
Seriously though, getting over this week-long slump in my daily writing habit has been tough. Main problem, I think, is I’ve been struggling over the plot of the story - where the...

Writing a Book - how to proceed
I’m sitting here before my computer, staring at the last paragraph I have written - a scene where the protagonist is returning home, where nothing is really happening in the story, and where anything potentially could. And this is the same point in my story where I have found myself sitting, staring at the screen for maybe five or six times over the last twenty-four hour period - briefly,...

Writing a Book - Slow Days
Sometimes the writing comes slowly - word after word is pulled, kicking-screaming, from my head, to be pasted on like ransom note letters - the sentences sometimes making jarring leaps, one to the next, without flow, without consistency, without smoothness. But those are the times to write, I tell myself, those are the times to push through - word after blessed word - push through until no other...

Here’s my new icon set - not “my” as in I made it, but “my” as in I downloaded and installed it - pretty cool, I think. It’s called “Token by ~brsev” and it’s got a dark and light version (using both types here in the photo). Anyway, that is all.

Writing a Book - The Method
Write one word, then another. Sometimes changing a word if it doesn’t sound right or is misspelled or redundant, repeating the same thought again once more. Rereading entire passages after they are written - making quick changes if necessary, otherwise, writing the next word to continue the story and trying not to mess it all up or write a boring story. But really it all comes down to: write...

Writing a Book - The Spreadsheet
Couldn’t sleep last night - woke up around 2 a.m. and punched out another couple thousand words, just about has me back on track after last weekend off. Here’s a snippet of the spreadsheet I set up. After each writing session, I type in the “Word Count” in the appropriate column and it gives me how many words I’ve written since the previous day [“Actual”...

Writing a Book - The Beginning
In hopes of putting more original content on here, I figure I’ll start posting updates on my newest project: writing a book. I won’t be divulging much about the book itself, lest I jinx myself too much [but a little bit of jinxing is fine]. Hope it’s not too boring to read [the book as well as these updates]. Here goes.
The beginning of the book is coming together nicely....
